When the sun shines on your solar panels, they produce DC electricity. Your solar inverter will change this into AC electricity to power your home.
Your solar inverter is what you can think of as the brain of your solar energy system. Your inverter works hard, so installing a good quality one in your home or business solar installation is important to ensure it keeps on running for a long time.
We offer a range of reputable and trusted brands from Sigenergy, GoodWe and Tesla Powerwall 3, which includes the battery built in. You can learn more on our product page.
During the day, your home is powered by the sun and any excess power from your solar panels that you don’t use will be sent back to the grid for a credit on your next power bill.
In Auckland and Waikato, a well-designed solar energy system often has a good amount of excess solar in the summer months which can earn you good money if you’re on the right power plan.
If you’re looking for a power company to switch to with solar, we can make some recommendations. Generally, the best option is a power retailer with a high export rate and a low daily fixed rate charge for solar energy customers.
Many homeowners choose to install a solar battery alongside their solar panels. With a home battery system, excess solar energy generated during the day is stored for you to use when solar production is low.
At night, your solar battery system can power your home using stored renewable energy instead of electricity from the grid.
In New Zealand, solar panels alone often deliver a stronger ROI (return on investment) than adding a battery. However, a solar battery storage system improves energy self-sufficiency, reduces grid reliance, and can still be a worthwhile investment for homeowners wanting greater energy independence and long-term savings.
With a solar battery system, in most cases we can back up your entire home so you can keep essential appliances like lighting, refrigeration and your WiFi running during a power cut. Home battery backup provides seamless protection against outages, helping your household stay powered and comfortable when the grid goes down.
Adding a battery to your solar power system increases energy reliability and reduces your reliance on the electricity grid.
If you live in parts of Auckland or Waikato that experience regular power outages, installing a solar battery with a backup gateway is a smart long-term investment in your home solar system. Battery storage improves energy independence, enhances solar savings, and provides dependable backup power for New Zealand homes looking for greater resilience and control over their energy use.
Most of our customers will save at least 80% off their power bill by installing solar panels throughout the year. Our team will be able to work with you to find out the savings potential for your home.
A typical residential solar install without a battery costs around $12,000
With a battery it’s usually around $20,000
You may need more or less solar or battery storage, depending on your power usage
Depending on where you live, your solar panels may need to be cleaned once a year with water and a soft brush and avoid using chemicals. It’s easy to do! We can also recommend people who can do it for you for a reasonable price. It’s often best to get it done at the same time as you get your house washed.
A battery is worthwhile if you want to have power during a power cut or if you want to increase your self-sustainability by storing any excess power that you don’t use during the day to use at night. However, you don’t have to get a battery and you will still save a significant amount without one.

The returns from solar is better than leaving your money in the bank, and has a better return than most managed funds.

Yes! We offer QCard as well as our partnership with all major banks and SEANZ to offer Green Energy Loans. Get in touch to find out how to get solar installed with no interest for 5 years!
With a solar only system it’s usually around 5 years.
If you include a battery it may take a little longer, around 7-10 years.
In most cases, no new penetrations are made to a new roof, except for a small hole for the cable entry, which is sealed using the same method which plumbers use to bring their pipes out of your roof, with a roof penetration seal and appropriate sealant. We except our work to last for the life of the system (over 20 years) and we offer a 10 year workmanship warranty.
Roof manufacturers will still honour their warranty with a solar installation, provided it is installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Depending on the type of roof you have, you can contact the manufacturer or usually find a document on their website with this information.
