New Zealand’s natural gas supply is in decline. With dwindling supply and rising line charges, gas is quickly becoming both less affordable and a less secure energy source for homes. More and more people are choosing to install electric cooking and heating appliances to offset the rising costs and environmental impacts. Gas cooking has also been proven to have negative effects on human health in NZ, based on recent studies.
Hot water heat pumps offer a far more efficient and lower-emission alternative to gas. They work by extracting heat from the air and transferring it into water. In New Zealand conditions, hot water heat pumps have around 60 – 75% lower energy use than conventional electric or gas water heating, significantly reducing household running costs. Because heat pumps run on electricity from NZ’s predominantly renewable grid, they also cut carbon emissions substantially — potentially saving many tonnes of CO₂ over a system’s life — while avoiding ongoing gas line charges and future fuel supply risk.
Hot water heat pumps are a great addition to your solar system and your eco-efficient home.

Super happy with entire process - great communication from office and installer/owner at all times, very easy to deal with, very professional.Posted on Stefan JosephApril 3, 2026.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a fantastic experience with Kenan and his team for my solar installation. From the very beginning, they were incredibly flexible and genuinely focused on helping me find the right system for my needs, rather than pushing a one size fits all solution. Despite me changing my mind (a few times) and upgrading the system along the way, Kenan provided clear advice making sure I understood the impact of each change without ever making me feel like a hassle. Their communication was excellent throughout the entire process. They were responsive, transparent, and always happy to answer questions, which made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. I’m really happy with the end result and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, and easy to work with team.Posted on Chris PettyApril 2, 2026.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. UNLIMITED POWWWWEEEEER!!! Great friendly crew, played it out with Auckland weather in a stormy week and got it done between rain. Tidy install, good gear at a good price. Sigenergy app is pretty slick and all nicely configured.Posted on Chris BowmanMarch 31, 2026.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We're very happy with the solar installation done by Kenan and his team. They did a great job. Kenan has been excellent to deal with, and has gone the extra mile to sort out a few issues we had. I can thoroughly recommend them (and I have already).Posted on Tony WoodhouseMarch 30, 2026.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. very efficient service - no nonsense - great to deal with.Posted on Uli KnappMarch 27, 2026.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What a fantastic experience working with AVID Solar. They were the only team that responded quickly to my request for a quote. John went beyond all expectations in providing information to my many questions. The install was completed before the scheduled time by Kenan and his team and Kenan took time to run me through the technicalities after the install. If I compare the level of service of the AVID SOLAR team to others that I have asked for a quotation, they stand out as by far the best. Highly recommended.Posted on Brad LaloliMarch 24, 2026.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've been investigating Solar for a while and had recently received five quotes - three from MySolarQuotes and two independently. I chose Avid Solar and Kenan not just because of their very competitive price but because of the way they were so responsive to my questions yet never pushy (unlike some). I met with Bronson twice and he provided multiple options/quotes for me to chose from. I received the quotes in a matter of hours or the next day every time - no chasing like I had to with two other companies. From there Elizabeth sorted out the install dates and come 8am on install day Kenan and his guys were into it. Eight hours later I had 23 panels and two Inverters all hooked up making angry pixies for me from the sun (11kW & 2 x 5kW Inverters). The guys were incredibly hard working and have done a great job of making the installation tidy. They were so quick and efficient. I am so glad I went with Avid Solar and would easily recommend them to anyone. The guys were fast, knew what they were doing, and didn't just turn up and start drilling — they took the time to go through everything with us first. They pulled out our old solar system which was well past its use-by date, put in a brand new setup, and sorted us out with an EV charger while they were at it. Done and dusted in one day. Proper good experience from start to finish.Posted on Nick NichollsMarch 1, 2026.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This is a great company to deal with. Bronson was upfront, honest and proactive throughtout. I highly recomentd this company.Posted on Greg WilsonFebruary 23, 2026.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
